About Us

Sending Smiles was created out of 2 sisters (ages 9 & 12) concern for children that were sick. Alex & Ashley got their cousins-Kate, Jack, James, Will, and Mare to help them decorate postcards when they visited over the summer but soon realized that there were so many children in need and cousin camp wouldn’t be enough time. Ashley & Alex decided to try and get students from all of the elementary schools in their county to help. Currently smile makers across the country including students in public and private schools, girl and boy scouts, day cares, sports teams, sororities, businesses, and individual families have decorated postcards. Anyone can be a smile maker ? To date approximately 41,276 postcards have been sent to children at St Jude’s Children’s National Medical, Hopkins House, Give Kids the World Village, over 25 Ronald McDonald Houses, Children’s Inn at NIH, as well as individual patients and families throughout the United States. Alex and Ashley are on a constant search to find children in need of smiles.

Alex is now 17 years. She is our jokester and decorates post cards to ensure kids laugh. Alex has always been scared and very concerned when others are sick. She wanted to create Sending Smiles to help a scary situation a little happier.

Ashley is 20 years old. She is very artistic and creates the most fun pictures guaranteed to bring smiles. Ashley has also recruited princesses, princes, and superheroes to help spread hope and smiles.
